What is EDM Lounge? Who founded the database?
EDM Lounge is an online database committed to attending electronic/house, trance/dubstep, and a variety of music festivals. We post reviews, videos, pictures and upcomming events as well as interviews with the artists themselves and much more. EDM Lounge was actually founded by a core group of NYU Students who essentially fell in love with this musical scene imparticular, which New York City catapults to a whole new level.
How do you personally feel about electronic music becomming “main stream”?
It’s conflicting. This style of upbeat dance music (synonynmous with Techno) has existed for decades, formerly attracting fan base that was a more narrow, intense image. Excitingly, this style of music has begun attracting huge diverse groups of individuals searching to enjoy the performer in the midst of a group of others, feel communal love and energy and have unforgettable experiences. Ultimately, I foresee the growing amount of music festivals and live performances benefiting society; bringing people together on the basis of music; a beautiful thing.
What is your favorite aspect about working for EDM Lounge?
The opportunity to attend and experience live concerts and festivals as a member of the press and a fan. Prior to my work at EDM Lounge, attending concerts and live performances was a big hobby – now turned career. What superior combination of business and pleasure could I ask for?
How do you feel about your location in the city and in what way does it impact your work?
At 20, I’ve already experienced and made connections I never thought possible and in no way would it be accessible without the influence of my physical environment. New York City offers entertainment lurking at every street corner, waiting to be absorbed and taken advantage of.
Who is your favorite performer to see live and why?
Tough question. After seeing over 200 artists live, I have concluded that Above & Beyond is my favorite performer to see live. The music is euphoric and the environment equally as magical.
